More funnies from our 3 1/2 year-olds:
Gabriel has recently been learning the song "Praise to the Man" in primary. He loves to sing, but gets a little creative with the lyrics sometimes. For those of you who aren't familiar with this uniquely Mormon hymn, I'll give the real line and then Gabe's version.
"Jesus annointed that prophet and seer;" became "Jesus annointed that profligate steer."
Wow, adding a few consonant sounds can really change how you describe a person.
"Blessed to open the last dispensation" became "Blessed to open the last gestation"
Can you tell he's a doctor's son? And finally,
"Traitors and tyrants, now fight him in vain." became "Trailers and tyrants fight Joseph Smith."
I had no idea trailers had an anti-Mormon agenda.
Elijah, ever the creative soul, was playing with his life cereal one morning. He placed one vertical square next to a horizontal piece and was pretending that it was a laptop complete with "beep" sounds. Gabe interrupted his fun by saying "Uh-oh. Now your batteries died."
Of course this started an argument.
E: "No they didn't!"
G: "Yes they did!"
E: "Stop arguing with me!"
G: "I'm not arguing with you!"
E: "Yes you are!"
G: "No I'm not!"
The yes and nos went on for a while before I intervened. The irony of arguing about arguing seemed lost on them. After I stopped the fight, Elijah got in the final say, "My batteries are not dead."
Elijah provided these cute one liners today.
(about a sandal that kept slipping off of his heel) "This sandal is a joke!"
(about a dinosaur shaped fruit snack) "Look Mom! I have a dinosaurus!"
Gabe and Elijah recently watched their first episode of Star Trek the Next Generation. Robert and Nancy were here for the weekend and Robert and Marc used to love watching together so we all watched an episode for nostalgia's sake (and for Nancy who had never seen the show.) Today, the boys were teasing each other by saying, "You're Data with the white face." "No, you're Data with the white face!" They are pretty pasty thanks to my ultra-white genes, but I don't think can quite compare with Data. I fear we might have little trekkies in the making.

Oh, that's a perfectly nice insult. I'd love to be compared to Data! Trekkies are very, very good people. ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I will EVER be able to hear "Praise to the Man" and not hear the kid version. Too funny! Love your blog! Next time you visit Arkansas, we'll have to get all these boys together!
