Gabriel was helping us with laundry on Friday by matching socks. He matched a few pairs but then discovered that it was much faster to find pairs if you looked in the pile of already matched socks. He then started unfolding pairs of socks and bringing them to me exclaiming, "Look Mom! I found two the same!" Brilliant. Anyway, one pair of socks particularly caught his attention. It was a pair of my knee-highs with butterflies on them.
He reverently brought them over and said, "Oh mommy, what beautiful butterfly socks! They are so beautiful. They are only for women when they get married." I'm not sure where he got this but I will be wary of any girls sporting butterfly socks when he starts dating. On Saturday, Elijah discovered something very alarming: his grandpa has a bald spot. I guess he's never been high enough to see the top of my dad's head before, but he was upstairs on Saturday when my dad was on the staircase. "What happened to you hair!?!?" he asked in dismay. At breakfast the next morning, Elijah sadly said, "I am going to lose my hair." My mom explained that he might not ever lose his hair and if he does he will be much much older. After breakfast, we gave all the boys haircuts and baths before getting ready for church. As it turned out, Elijah started running a fever so he stayed home with my mom. While they were sitting on the couch he brought up the subject of hair again. "I am going to lose my hair, Grandma. I already losed some. Daddy cut it off."
David John has recently developed a fascination with "Melmo" aka Elmo. We don't have TV, but we checked out some Elmo books from the library and last week I let him check out an Elmo's World DVD. At the end of each Elmo's world episode Elmo sings a song to the tune of jingle bells consisting only of the word of the day. I.E. "Drums drums drums, drums drums drums, etc." Since watching the show David John sings his own version of the theme song, "La la la, Melmo doo." and often sings one word songs. He now consistently sings a gum song and today we were treated to the oval song just before bedtime. It took a while to get him to stop. The problem with one word songs is that there's no clear end to the lyrics.
Wow I love the comment about the butterfly socks. HOw old are Gabriel and Elijah?
