Health Nuts

My boys are big believers in the power of healthy food. That doesn't mean they always or even almost always eat it, but when they do they expect instant body-improving results. Yesterday morning we had green smoothies for breakfast. The boys watched me make the smoothies and knew that they included a whole bunch of "salad" aka spinach. As they sat at the table drinking their smoothies they would take periodic breaks to stretch and flex their muscles.
"Look how much of my smoothie is gone! I am taller than you now!"
"I already drinked half! Look how strong I am!"
It took all of my self-control not to laugh at their escalating displays of manliness. I finally had to ask them to sit down and just drink the rest of their smoothies because the flexing was in danger of knocking cups of smoothie on the floor.
The whole scenario was reminiscent of Popeye and the instant super-strength he gained from a can of spinach. If you, too, want to start your day with some extra height and muscle, here is the green smoothie recipe:

4 cups spinach
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1 1/4 cups orange juice
1 frozen banana
1 1/4 cups frozen strawberries
4 TBS wheat germ

Blend until smooth.
